Conference Speakers and Instructors:


Simon Swift, DVM, DECVIM Cardiology
Cardiology Lectures and Lab Instructor

Dr Simon Swift is the medical director and service chief for cardiology at the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine.  He qualified from Cambridge and spent 15 years in private practice developing a passion for cardiology.  He returned to Liverpool as a lecturer in 2005 and completed an ECVIM Diploma in Cardiology.  After working in private referral practice, he joined the University of Florida in 2014 to develop the referral service.  He is an honorary member of the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Club having advised the club on heart disease for 20 years.  He is developing an open heart program to perform mitral valve repair.







Anthony J. Fischetti, DVM, MS, DACVR
Diagnostic Ultrasound Lectures

Dr. Fischetti is the Department Head of Radiology and Radiation Safety Officer at Animal Medical Center (AMC).  He received his undergraduate and veterinary degrees from Cornell University (1997, 2001), internship training at the University of Pennsylvania (2001-2002), and Residency/Master’s Degree from Ohio State University (2002-2015). He is an executive council member of the American College of Veterinary Radiology (ACVR) and Webmaster of the ACVR.com website.  He is the resident director for the AMC’s Diagnostic Imaging Residency, Adjunct Professor of Radiology at Western University Veterinary College, and overseas teaching of over 50 interns, residents and students each year at AMC. Dr. Fischetti speaks nationally and internationally on a variety of topics related to veterinary radiology.






Marina Ivancic, DVM, Dip ACVR
Ultrasound of Exotics, and Lab Instructor

Dr. Marina Ivancic is the first veterinary radiologist in the world to work full time at a zoo. Board-certified by the American College of Veterinary Radiology, she interprets medical imaging studies of the zoo's 3,000+ animals. She obtained her veterinary degree from the University of California at Davis. As a veterinary student, she spent summers volunteering with the U.S. Navy Marine Mammal Program. Following an internship in small animal medicine, she completed a radiology residency at the Veterinary Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. She has been a diplomate of the ACVR since 2008. A former dolphin trainer, Dr. Ivan?i? has spent much of her professional career devoted to advancing veterinary radiology in marine mammals, and was the first radiologist to concentrate exclusively on aquatic animal imaging. In 2008, she founded AquaVetRad, an international radiology consulting service for aquatic animals, and has worked as the radiologist for the National Marine Mammal Foundation and U.S. Navy Marine Mammal Program since 2011. She is the author of numerous scientific publications and a prolific presenter at international conferences. Dr. Ivancic holds an adjunct clinical faculty position with the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign College of Veterinary Medicine and heads up the global Radiology Consulting Service of the Chicago Zoological Society. 


Cibele Carvalho, DVM, MSc, PhD, 
Lab Instructor

Dr. Carvalho is a long-time member and supporter of IVUSS, founder of N.A.U.S. (an ultrasound teaching organization in Brazil), and prolific speaker on veterinary ultrasound both nationally and internationally. She received her Veterinary Medicine and Master’s degrees from São Paulo University, and her PhD and post doctorate from the Medical School at São Paulo University, where she worked as a researcher. She has taught at several Brazilian universities and is a diplomate of the Brazilian College of Veterinary Radiology (ABRV).

Registration Includes:

  • Welcome Reception for IVUSS Member Registrants (guests will cost $30 per person)
  • Up to 16 hours of highly specialized CE over 3 days (Up to 19 hours over 4 days if you participate in the lab--see below)
  • Option to participate in the Saturday Lab (Meeting registration is required to participate.  Participation in the lab is an additional fee and will be 3 CE hours)
  • Sit-down Lunch on Sunday and Tuesday for registrants and sponsors
  • Coffee breaks



  • Saturday morning--Wet Lab and demo time.    9:00am to between 12:00 and 1:00pm
  • Saturday evening—Welcome Reception     6:00pm to 8:00pm
  • Sunday morning and afternoon lectures (sit-down lunch included)     9:00am to 5:00pm
  • Monday morning lectures     8:30am to 12:30pm.  Afternoon off to spend touring or with family
  • Tuesday morning and afternoon lectures (sit-down lunch included)     8:30am to 3:30pm
  • Tuesday night Gala Dinner on the 67th Floor of the Willard Tower (formerly Sears Tower)     6:00pm to 10:00pm

  • Gala Dinner – Tuesday, September 24th- $135 per person - Limited to 100 people
    • Registration Deadline is September 17th. 
    • Our yearly dinner and awards party.  
    • Semi-formal dress, fine food and dancing!  
    • Location: The Metropolitan Club, 67th Floor of the Willis Tower (formerly Sears Tower).  Unbelievable views of Chicago!!
    • The Skydeck on the 102nd floor will be open when we do the Gala.  You can pay a small charge and go up before dinner to the top of what used to be the tallest building in the world!


  • Wet-lab – Saturday, September 21st- Practical wet lab to instruct on anything with a probe. Limited to 48 sessions.
    • Registration deadline is September 1, 2019.  Sign up for up to two sessions.  
    • The wet lab fee is $130 for members and $140 for non-members for each session.
    • These one-on-one 20-minute focus sessions, exclusive to IVUSS conference attendees, are an add-on to the conference as a benefit to those that attend.
    • These sessions are on the organ or area of your choice:  Orthopedic, Cardiac with Doppler, Adrenals, Shunt hunt, Portal hilus, and essentially anything else you wish to work on to refine your ultrasound views and imaging technique.


CANCELLATION POLICY:  All cancellations must be submitted by email to IVUSS at Treasurer@IVUSS.org. Cancellation within 5 days of registration will receive 100% refund.  Cancellations received on or before July 1, 2019 are entitled to an 80% refund, on or before September 7, 2019 will receive a 50% refund, and after September 7, 2019 will receive a 20% refund.

RELEASE:  As a conference speaker or participant, you grant permission to IVUSS to capture photos and video to use for promotional purposes.  IVUSS does not permit individual video recording within session rooms.
